Daniƫl Grobler Succeeds Cobus Bester as Group Financial Director

Johannesburg, 9 March 2017 – Murray & Roberts is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Daniël Grobler as Group Financial Director, with effect 1 April 2017.

Daniël succeeds Cobus Bester as Group Financial Director, who announced his retirement on 30 November 2016, after six years of service in this role.

Henry Laas, Murray & Roberts Group Chief Executive, comments: “The Board selected and appointed Daniël after an extensive search for suitable internal and external candidates. I would like to congratulate Daniel on his appointment and wish him all the best in our tenure together.”

 

Daniël is a Chartered Accountant and has been employed in various financial and leadership functions within the Group since 2010. Most recently, Daniël was the Managing Director of Murray & Roberts Cementation. Prior to that, he fulfilled financial positions such as Chief Financial Officer: Underground Mining business platform and Group Corporate Finance Executive, where he engaged with the Group’s financial stakeholders.

 

After completing his undergraduate and honours degrees at the University of Pretoria in 1998, Daniël completed his articles with Deloitte & Touche. He qualified as CA (SA) in 2003. He then relocated to the Netherlands, where he was an Audit Manager with Deloitte until 2004.  Daniël further held financial positions with firms based in the United Kingdom, before joining Murray & Roberts in 2010.

 

Cobus Bester will step down as Group Financial Director on 31 March 2017. The Boards of directors of both Murray & Roberts Holdings Limited and Murray & Roberts Limited, the major operating subsidiary of the Group, acknowledge and thank Cobus for the valuable contribution to the financial and operational functions of the Group during the last six years. Cobus will take on a temporary operational assignment within the Group.
